CRBA Mental Health Awareness Session

The CREDIT REFERENCE BUREAUS ASSOCIATION OF UGANDA (CRBA) had the honor of hosting a powerful live panel discussion on X Spaces, themed “Credit & Calm: The Importance of Good Credit Behavior in Ensuring Mental Wellness.”

In recognition of May MentalHealthAwareness Month and June, the Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month the session brought together voices from across the mentalhealth, financialliteracy, and creditreporting sectors to discuss the above theme.

Key Highlights Included:
1. Financial literacy: Empowering consumers through financial literacy to drive prudent responsible credit behavior
2. The Role of Support Systems: How caregivers, peer support, and therapy can aid individuals during financial and mental health crises.
3. Cultural Shifts in Money Conversations: Why we need to break taboos and foster open, stigma-free discussions around money and mental health.
4. Managing Financial Stress: Practical tools, behavioral techniques, and routines to regain control and reduce impulsivity.
5. Mental Health & Credit Behavior: How conditions like anxiety or bipolar disorder influence spending, borrowing, and credit management.
6. Early Warning Signs: Recognizing when financial stress is starting to take a toll on mental well-being.
9. Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs) & Consumer Wellness: The role of CRBs in promoting financial inclusion, credit access and mental wellness, with a spotlight on Uganda’s efforts.
